As a receiver of mass quantities of email myself, I can let you in on the secret: these vile, self-righteous, pompous emails, from BOTH sides of the aisle, are about par for the course.
People seem to think they are talking to a dream, to themselves, or to a machine when the type-etty-type away in the meanest, most vicious vein.
When folks write me with big ol' swear words in their sentences, I always write back and make sure they know that I did receive their profanity, it's not particularly a productive way to communicate with their fellow humans, and if they don't want to be mistaken for a mean, foul-mouthed person perhaps a gentler approach would work -- you really need to mix traditionally "left" and "right" words so that they're shocked out of their self-righteousness -- I get the most apologetic replies you can imagine.
